Paul Sénéquier is a justice of the peace and historian in Grasse, in the 1850s. Imagine him in a jacket and shirt, a thin mustache in the shade of a black felt hat, surveying the Alpes-Maritimes and listing the vestiges of the History of France. You will follow the path imagined by Mr Sénéquier, discovering pieces of the ancient aqueduct, which linked Mons to Fréjus, for nearly 42km. It had a total of 36 arches and could carry up to 50,000m3 of water per day. It gives its name to a portion of the aqueduct near Fréjus. This is where your journey will begin. This first site includes a doubled aqueduct, because it was common for certain parts to collapse following torrential rains or because of the limestone water of the region, which depositing its sediments, ended up weighing heavily on the structures. You will then have to discover 4 other archaeological sites, following the route. ------------------------------------------------ You are on an exploration activity. The purpose of this is to give you a journey that no one has validated yet. As the explorer (s), it will be up to you to tell us if it is passable, or failing to offer us an alternative route; but also to share with us your photos of the expedition, and to comment on the treasures you discovered there. Be the first to track this activity so that it is published under your name! PS: Also think about sharing your preliminary or post-activity research on the specificity of the place or what is there (by citing your sources).
