Start the hike at the Château de Peyrelade, you can park in the free car park. Follow the yellow trail through the national forest of Rivière-sur-Tarn, to get to the plateau. You will be amazed by the beauty of the landscape on the Cévennes, the valley and the beginning of the gorges, in particular at the level of the Fontaneilles pedestal. This was built in the 19th century, using local stones. The site, ordered by 3 abbots, lasted 2 years, but the statue of the Virgin Mary, which he was to welcome in its midst, never came ... After enjoying the sublime view, descend towards the semi-troglodyte wine cellars of Entre Deux Monts. To do this, follow the track then the road and let yourself be charmed by the beauty of its characteristic constructions, made of large lauze stones. For the rest, head back to the village of Fontaneilles and find the forest, thanks to a track that will bring you back to the castle. Do not hesitate to visit Peyrelade, entry is not free but the building steeped in history and its panorama are not to be missed.
