Starting point near Casterino- you can go with the car until de Vacherie de la Valmasque . Parking next to the road, near the vacherie. First part of the path is common for Refuge Valmasque and Lac D;Agnel - large path well maintained - nice walk in the shade between the trees. All is well indicated - and nothing too difficult until the last bit going up to the refuge - which is a bit steep , but the path is in good shape. A nice waterfall can be seen just before starting the climb towards the refuge. The refuge offers water fountain, options to eat- really enjoyed the blubbery tart .From there one can continue and do the tour of the lac Vert- at the Balise with Racourci- it requires a bit of climbing at the beginning but then the path to go to lac noir and lac du Basto. Views of these three man made lakes are beautiful- and lots of chamois can be seen on the way. The path from the refuge till the beginning of the last lake take about 1 h one way. You can continue to baise de Valmasue if you have the time- there should be some great view on all the 3 lakes from up. Way back is on the same path- yet one could transform it into a circuit with a return via the Fontanalba valley.
